Kenneth Neubauer is the Technical Director for Aerospace Safety at the Futron Corporation.  There he leads cutting edge efforts in safety management system (SMS) implementation, safety culture shaping, human fatigue detection, safety performance metrics analysis, and dynamic analytics for risk forecasting in the aerospace industry.  He joined Futron in 2007 after a career as a US Navy fighter pilot having flown numerous aircraft including the F-14 Tomcat, the F-4 Phantom and the F-21 Kfir.   He served as Commanding Officer of Fighter Squadron 41 and as the Operations Officer aboard the aircraft carrier USS Constellation.  During his Navy career, Mr. Neubauer accumulated more the 3500 flight hours and 850 aircraft carrier landings in tactical jet aircraft.   Over the past eleven years, both on active duty in the military and in the private sector, he has focused on the improvement of aviation safety.  While on active duty, he served as Director of the Naval School of Aviation Safety at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA.  There he managed all curriculum development and delivery, as well as aviation safety related research efforts.  He instructed officers from all US military services and more than twenty allied nations in safety leadership, pre-mishap planning and operational continuity preparation, risk management and safety culture shaping.  He concluded his military career serving as Director of Aviation Programs at the Naval Safety Center in Norfolk, VA.  There he was responsible for the management of the Naval Aviation Safety Program, including aviation safety audits, data analysis, accident investigations and safety report generation.  He was a member of the NextGen Safety Working Group and a guiding member of the Safety Culture Standing Committee.  In his current position at Futron, he is currently working with multiple airports in the development and implementation of SMS, as well as having developed and delivered Safety Risk Management (SRM) training during the FAA SMS Pilots Studies.  Additionally, he has provided safety program analysis for the US Navy, and safety culture shaping to the FAA and NASA.  Mr. Neubauer graduated from the United States Naval Academy with distinction in 1980 earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering, and holds a Master of Arts degree with distinction in National Security and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College, Newport, RI.
