Thermal Emission Spectroscopy of Martian Meteorites
Southwest Research Institute |
Martian meteorites are of great value to geologists because they
allow us to examine samples of rock from Mars and compare them to
the rocks that we find on Earth. The compositions of the minerals in
the meteorites and the physical characteristics they exhibit provide
information about the conditions that existed when they were formed,
such as temperature and pressure, and whether they were erupted onto
the surface of the planet to cool quickly, or cooled slowly below
the surface.
