5oK interval isotherms of effective temperature are shown on
a wide-angle image of Ganymede, using the data from the mosaic shown in
Fig. 2 (q.v. for details). The dots show the centers
of all the spectrum locations used in compiling the isotherms. The dark
cratered terrain is warmer than the intervening bright grooved terrain,
and the coldness of the ejecta blanket of the bright crater Osiris is conspicuous.
Note that the isotherms were drawn `blind' without reference to the albedo
patterns in the image.
